A Statue of Li Guohao was completed on the campus center green space. The grand unveiling ceremony was held on November 3rd.
In 1929, Li Guohao became a Tongji student and was attached to the University ever after. In the 70-years’ study and work, Mr. Li devoted all his passion to Tongji, and the alma mater gave him the spiritual sustenance and sense of belonging. Since Mr. Li’s passing, the University has organized several commemorative activities and published some books to commemorate his contribution to our country, Shanghai City and Tongji University.
It is known that commemorative activities for Mr. Li were on the schedule of Tongji’s centennial celebration and the construction of Li’s statue on campus was one of the major activities. The designing work of this statue was begun in the latter half of 2005 by Prof. Wei Tianyu, assistant dean of China Academy of Arts.
