Founded in March 1979, developing under the policy of reform and opening-up, Tongji German Language Training Center celebrated its 30thanniversary. The celebration ceremony was held in Yifu Building on March 27th. The onlyTestDaf Training Centerthat the TestDaF-Institut set up in China opened at the same time. This center would be responsible for training and guide of the TestDaF teachers all over the country in order to optimize the quality of TestDaF training class and raise the TestDaF scores of Chinese students.
Wan Gang, CPPCC Vice-Chairman and Minister of Science and Technology, Li Wuwei, CPPCC Vice-Chairman, Ma Canrong, Chinese ambassador to Germany, Wu Qidi, Standing Committee Member of the National People's Congress and former Minister of Education sent letters of congratulation respectively.
Consul-General Heyden, Lemmons, Section Chief of Asian and Australian Affairs, Germany Academic Exchange Center, Zhou Jialun, Director of the University administration Committee, the University Vice-President Dong Qi attended the celebration. Nearly 200 people including representatives from German partner universities and cooperative organizations and distinguished alumni both home and abroad were present at the celebration.
Tongji German Language Training Center was one of the 11 foreign language-training bases, once namedPreparatory School for Study in Germanyand in 1983, Postgraduate German Language Training Center instead. From 1987, the center was designated as Tongji German Language Training Center. Based on the excellent teachers and German cooperation partner, more than 13000 scientists, engineers and university students majoring in each field received intensive German language training before gonging abroad.
As one part of the celebration, the guests carried on a heated discussion over the topic—Financial Crisis—Education Opportunity.
