On October 27th, Prof. Zhou Jialun, Chairman of University Council met Mr. Klaus Helmrich, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Siemens AG and a member of the Siemens Managing Board.
Prof. Zhou extended warm welcome to Siemens delegation and appreciated the longstanding relationship and extensive cooperation between Tongji and Siemens. He said 2012 will witness the 105th anniversary of Tongji’s foundation, and both sides shall take the opportunity to further exchanges and cooperation, establishing strategic cooperative partnership and focusing on prime issues such as urban sustainability. Prof. Zhou also expressed his regards to Mr. Peter Loescher, CEO of Siemens and delivered him the invitation to Tongji Trustee Meeting in May, 2012. Mr. Klaus Helmrich said as a new CTO he was glad to see extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation between Siemens and Tongji and he was responsible and confident to take it to a new level.
Prof. Wu Zhiqiang, Vice President of Tongji also presented at the meeting. After the meeting, Prof. Wu Zhiqiang held a banquet for the delegation. Both sides discussed several issues including establishing research project on urban sustainability, Tongji-Siemens Class and Tongji Siemens Summer School, etc. The delegation also visited department of physics and Project CKI of Sino-German College of Applied Sciences.
