Let’s Struggle for our Dreams in this New Term!

The winter holiday has passed by and the new term has begun. We are back to the same campus and classrooms to meet our dedicated teachers and fellow students again. Every Tongji student has had a fulfilling experience in what is being called the “longest winter holiday in history.” March 2ndis the first day of the new term. Both faculty members and students are energetically starting their work and study. All of Tongji University returns to life--busy as usual.

LI Jielin from Yuxi, Yunnan Province, who is a freshman in the Medical School of Tongji University, played the role of “Tongji image publicizing ambassador” in his hometown during the winter holiday. He delivered two lectures in his Alma Mater Yuxi First Middle School where he shared his experiences in Tongji with the middle school students and answered questions about university life.

It is highly recommended to the foreign tourists, and is also a necessary dish in our Lunar New Year reunion dinner.” During the winter holiday, some students from the School of Electronics and Information Engineering of Tongji University took part in the activity of Student’s Social Practices in their Hometowns which was sponsored by the university. They investigated the traditional customs of their hometowns relating to celebrating the Spring Festival and kept records of them with words and pictures.

“On the third day of the Lunar New Year, I was wandering along the shore of Lugu Lake in Sichuan Province. The street lights attracted my attention. Students remaining on campus also celebrated the Lunar New Year with memorable activities. During the winter holiday, some of them visited the Golden Sunset Gerocomium in Baoshan District to express their concerns for the aged and the disabled citizens who live there. Fifteen foreign students who won Tongji scholarships from Russia, Japan, and Kenya also visited disabled students living in the Siping Community Sunny Home with their gifts and wishes. Together, they happily celebrated the Lunar New Year.

On the first day of the new term, students arrived at the teaching building and entered their respective classrooms. Teachers passionately presented their lessons, while students carefully listened and took meticulous notes. A group of university leaders and teaching administrators headed by Prof. YANG Xianjin, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Tongji University, and Prof. WU Jiang, vice president of the university, came to the teaching building to conduct an inspection tour, in order to make sure that things are going smoothly for each class. Meanwhile, the staff of logistics and security was also working hard to ensure there was a peaceful and harmonious academic environment for students.
