The School of Arts and Media of Tongji University and the Trossingen University of Music jointly launched the German Music Spring 2015 of Tongji University, which will take place during March and April of 2015.

This year’s German Music Spring is characterized by its long span of time and large scale of activities, including the German Music Week, Master Class of German Music, Weekly Concert, Art Seminar and Interdisciplinary Workshop. The German Music Week will bring many classics to students in Tongji in the form of concerts. The Master Class of German Music has invited 17 famous international music masters to give lessons for nearly one month. The Weekly Concert is a new type of liberal education course. And the Art Seminar and the Interdisciplinary Workshop invited scholars from home and abroad to exchange their ideas about art-related topics. These activities, both independent and integrated, will bring special flavors to the German Music Spring.
Tongji University has held Sino-German music-themed exchange activities many times, and kept close contact with many music masters and scholars in Germany. This year’s German Music Spring aims at conducting deeper cooperation with them duing German Music Week. Prof. DONG Hua, dean of the School of Arts and Media, said, “the German Music Spring will not only deepen the communication in art between China and Germany and play a more important role in the liberal education of Tongji University, but also promote the integration of the majors of performing arts (musical performance, acting and dancing) of the School of Arts and Media, and benefits the teachers and students in Tongji by keeping the features of Tongji’s music course and improving its artistic education.”
In his congratulatory letter, Prof. PEI Gang, president of Tongji University, expressed his high hopes on the German Music Spring activity: “The German Music Spring is a significant part of the campus culture development of Tongji. It combined the professional education and liberal education in our university, and integrated both science and art. I, on behalf of Tongji University, wish to express my congratulations on the successful organization of the German Music Spring 2015, and my hope that it will gain great achievements for the art development of Tongji University!”
It is reported that numerous music masters from home and abroad will take part in the activities of the German Music Spring to jointly launch a musical and artistic feast for the audience. The German Music Spring will not only promote the development of music education in Tongji University and improve students’ artistic accomplishment, but also benefit the community and contribute to the enrichment of mass culture.
