Professor SUN Jun, a first grade professor of the School of Civil Engineering, Tongji University and member of CAS, was honored with the Fellowship of International Society of Rock Mechanics 2015 by the executive committee of ISRM. This recognition is based on his outstanding accomplishments in the field of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. He was awarded the certificate and the medal at the Plenary Session of ISRM which was held in Montreal, Canada on May 11th.
Professor SUN is the former vice president of ISRM and director of the division of China. He successively held the posts of the president of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (he is now the honorary president) and the vice president of China Civil Engineering Society (he is now the counselor and honorary council member). He was elected member of CAS in 1991.
The Fellowship of the ISRM is conferred on Professor SUN Jun in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments in the field of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering and his contribution to the professional community through the ISRM.
