On the 23th of December, the debut of Campus Opera Cavalleria Rusticana was performed by Tongji University students’ Chorus and vocal music department from the College of Arts and Media on the stage of the 129Hall.
Cavalleria Rusticana, is one of the top ten operas in the world, and it is a one-act play with artistic appeal and attractive plots. Although this opera performance only lasts 70 minutes, it is intertwined with various types of music, including arias sung by main characters along with several complicated duets and trios performed by the chorus, which test the singing capability of opera performers. Chorus also dominates quite a large part in the whole opera. All the performers met the challenge to sing the whole opera in Italian, which took lots of energy and time in rehearsing. Cavalleria Rusticana, not only was an excellent opera and special performance of chorus, but also a very successful trial. Without the efforts paid by all faculty and students from College of Arts and Media, this performance could not have been so successful.. Even though the opera performance is over, the artistic atmosphere that was brought to us by this artistic effort will accompany us to welcome a new year!
