“The Big Data and Cyber Security Research Center at Tongji University” was established on December 31st, 2015. Committed to respond to national strategic demand, the research center will establish interdisciplinary research platforms on the basis of big data. With schools and departments including the College of Electronic and Information Engineering, School of Software Engineering and Department of Mathematics. The researchers from different disciplines will jointly carry out researches on the fields of analysis of education big data, biological big data, smart campus, basic theory and application of data science and cyber security, thus pushing forward the development of “smart campus” in Tongji University and cultivating relevant researchers in the field of big data.
Tongji University has great foundation in the subject , having started the research in the field of big data very early. Schools such as the College of Electronic and Information Engineering and the School of Software Engineering will play a main role. Big data is a field with great potential. Many researchers that focused on pattern recognition, data mining, business intelligence and data warehouse have started to pay attention to big data and carry out relative theoretical and applied research.
This research center will seek to recruit outstanding scholars worldwide,through the mechanism of institute of advanced study, plan and assume major research projects and build international research platforms. It is greatly hoped, that within short time, the centre,can developed into a significant domestic research base of big data and cyber security, helping Tongji University step into the leading position of informatization.
