The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Asia Congress took place in Singapore on December 16th, 2016. Experts from Department of Oncology of Pulmonary Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University participated in the ESMO Asia Congress at invitation.
The congress set up a special session for cancer diseases where Professor ZHOU Caicun, head of the Department of Oncology of Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University, was appointed as the chairman of the session for lung cancer immunotherapy. He delivered a keynote speech on Combination of Immunotherapy Treatments with other Anti-cancer Treatments, which introduced the recent development of immunotherapy in lung cancer treatment, analyzed the limitations in it from the perspective of clinical and basic research and discussed feasible hybrid ways such as combining anti-vascular treatment drug Apatinib with immune checkpoint inhibitors and integrating chemotherapy and targeted therapy with immunotherapy.
