On May 27th, the School of Economic Management and the Liberal Arts Office of Tongji University hosted the Summit on Implementation of One Belt, One Road (B&R) Strategy and Talent Development, in which more than 100 attendees participated, including people from Chinese companies and institutions, as well as Tongji alumni, teachers and students.
During the Summit, a deep discussion took place on how to improve the internationalized education level of the University, so as to develop high-quality talents for the implementation of B&R initiative.
The participants believe B&R initiative aims at deepening the reform and opening up China, so it is important to improve the soft power like people-to-people bonds. In order to win public support, the government should always shoulder its social responsibilities in a systematic way; for example, helping the local with economic and talent development, and improving the national image under the aid of responsible and respectable companies, etc.
They also emphasized the importance of developing internationalized talents and agreed that such talents should possess not only a global view and way of thinking, knowledge on international business rules, technical standards, law and finance, but also a comparatively strong ability of cross-cultural communication and good foreign language skills.
