Two teams of students from the Sino-German Engineering School (Chinesisch-Deutsche Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, CDHAW) of Tongji University travelled to the headquarter of the Phoenix Contact Group in Germany for the final round of the Xplore New Automation Award 2018 recently. The final saw 24 entrants from 12 teams of students of different countries contending for the winner.
The Automatic Intelligent Building Skin, a project presented by students of Building Electricity and Intelligence Department from Tongji University finally stood out, and was awarded the first prize of the ‘Urban Infrastructure’ category. All seven judges of the jury from the Phoenix Contact Group, the German Electronics Industry Association, Tongji University, and Munich Industrial University gave it the highest scores. Besides, the Little Coalball Modulare Transport Robot, a project by Mechatronic Engineering students was also highly recognized by the jury and won the third prize of the ‘Smart Factory’ category.
