The first "Battle of Ball Games" sports meeting, jointly organized by the University Youth League and Department of Physical Education, was held at the Sports Centre of Jiading Campus from October 21 to November 13. A total of 28 teams composed of more than 200 students from 10 schools participated in the sports meeting. Among all the teams, 12 participated in the table tennis games, 9 in the badminton games, and the remainder in the volleyball games. The table tennis and badminton games include group stages and knockout stages, and the volleyball games included the single round-robin games and the final rounds.
In the final round of the table tennis games, the Transportation and Economics Management Joint Team won a narrow victory and won the championship after an intense match with the Electronics Information Engineering Team. Also, the Mechanical Engineering Team 2 defeated the Automobile Team and took Third Place.

In the badminton games, the Electronics Information Engineering and Automobile Teams reached the final round, and the former one which was rather stronger won the championship, at last. The Rail and Materials Joint Team took Third Place. The Railway Urban Rail Transit and Material Science Engineering Joint Team also won Third Place.

The volleyball final was the longest and most entertaining. The Automobile Team started 0-2 down to the Material Science Engineering Joint Team. At that very moment, the Automobile Team caught up by three match points and won the championship. Apart from that, Electronics Information Engineering Team defeated the Sino-German Team to take Third Place.

In the end, the College of Electronics and Information Engineering became the overall winner by virtue of its comprehensive strength, followed by the School of Economics and Management and the School of Automobile Engineering taking Second Place, and the School of Material Science and Engineering taking the Third Place.

The game was the first sports meeting, which contained only ball games held at the Jiading Campus aiming to strengthen Tongji students' physical qualities further. It was an effective part of Tongji's efforts to implement the comprehensive reform on the Three Aspects of Education.
