On January 4, an Interdisciplinary Forum on Spatial Information and Engineering Project Management was held jointly by the College of Surveying and Geo-informatics (CSG), the School of Economics and Management (SEM) and the College of Civil Engineering (CCE) of Tongji University. The forum aimed to promote research innovation and interdisciplinary integration in the fields of spatial information and engineering management through academic discussion, exchanges, cooperation, and open sharing.
At the forum, in-depth exchanges and discussions were conducted among teachers and students on current topical national and international research, issues and technical methods, such as new remote sensing, smart city and intelligent construction. It was agreed that strengthening interdisciplinary integration, establishing a comprehensive, exceptional talent training model in which knowledge and practice can be synergized, and facilitating interdisciplinary communication, are crucial to cultivating talent and competitiveness. Several professors at the forum explained the importance of interdisciplinarity based on their personal experience and encouraged students to carry out research work with an open mind and interdisciplinary mindset.

Professors sharing personal experiences
In the forum report and discussion session, young scholars from CSG, SEM and CCE, elaborated on many of the latest cutting-edge research and achievements in their respective fields, looking at these from different investigative directions. They made 12 thematic reports on intelligent robot positioning; navigation and environmental modeling; underground space development adaptability evaluation; strategic research on China's construction organization and mechanism innovation; UAV low-altitude remote sensing and intelligent perception; and tunnel dynamic information model parameterization, among others.
