On the morning of January 23, the 4th Session of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee was grandly opened in the Expo Center. The CPC Shanghai Committee Secretary LI Qiang, the CPC Shanghai Committee Deputy Secretary and Mayor Gong Zheng, Director of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress JIANG Zhuoqing, the CPC Shanghai Committee Deputy Secretary and the Political and Law Commission Secretary YU Shaoliang were invited to attend the conference.
Members of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee from Tongji University YU Xuemei, YANG Zhigang, SHAN Xiaoguang, HUANG Hongwei, LU Yongyi, WANG Shilong, CAI Yongjie, CHEN Ling, YIN Daqiang, YANG Shouye, GUAN Jihong, LI Huiping, and WU Aijun attended the opening ceremony of the conference and listened carefully to the work report of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee Chairman DONG Yunhu who is on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee, as well as the CPPCC Shanghai Committee Vice Chairman LI Yiping’s report on the proposals since the 3rd Session of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee.

The CPPCC Shanghai Committee Members of Tongji University conscientiously performed their duties, brought their strengths into full play, and conducted in-depth research before the conference to make preparations for the convening of the Two Sessions. They expressed that during the conference, they would actively offer suggestions and contribute the wisdom of CPPCC to the implementation of the national strategy and the central work of Shanghai to show the United Front style of Tongji University.
At the preparatory conference of the 4th Session of the 13th CPPCC Shanghai Committee held on January 22, the 2020 outstanding proposals were commended. The proposal titled: “Suggestions on Strengthening the Leading Function of High-end Industries and Promoting the Key Guidance Catalogue Formulation of Shanghai's New Materials Industry" participated by YIN Daqiang of Tongji University, and the proposal titled: "Suggestions on the Integration of Water Environment Treatment Standards in the Yangtze River Delta Taihu Lake Basin" participated by YANG Shouye won the 2020 Outstanding Proposal Special Award. The proposal titled: "Suggestions on Appropriate Aging Retrofit for the Elderly Care at Home" participated by YIN Daqiang, the proposal titled: “Suggestions on Promoting the Use of Public Chopsticks and Public Spoons in Shanghai" participated by LI Huiping and YANG Zhigang, the proposal titled: ”Suggestions on the promulgation of Regulations on Prohibiting Illegal Wildlife Trade in Shanghai” participated by WANG Shilong, and the proposal titled: “Suggestions on Modern Industrial Heritage along Huangpu River and Suzhou River in Shanghai" by YANG Shouye won the Outstanding Proposal Award.
