Recently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) issued its 2020 list of Bases in Fundamental Disciplines of Top Level Student Training Program 2.0. Four bases for nurturing top level students in maths, physics, life sciences and computer science at Tongji University were selected.
The Top Level Student Training Program Version 1.0 was originally initiated in 2009 by MOE, the Organization Department of the Central Committee and the Ministry of Finance. In 2018, MOE, together with the Ministry of Science and Technology and six other departments, launched the second version (2.0) of this program on the basis of what was successfully researched during the past decade and with the intention of building more bases for cultivating top level talents in basic science, liberal arts and medicine as well as producing distinguished scientists in natural, social and medical science in the future. This is intended to lay the foundations for nurturing talents and building China into a major global science and innovation center.
