Reading workshop of the university leadership

The workshop put a spotlight on the history of the CPC during the New Democratic Revolution, combined with the important remarks and requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the study and education of CPC history, so as to have an understanding of the task of the CPC to lead the people to accomplish national independence and liberation after twenty-eight years of fight, establish the People's Republic of China and realize the people's democracy in China following thousands of years of feudal autocracy.

Before the workshop, the leaders had studied the On the History of the Communist Party of China, the Extracts from MAO Zedong, DENG Xiaoping, JIANG Zemin and HU Jintao's Discourses on the History of the Communist Party of China, the XI Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, and the A Brief History of the Communist Party of China, with an emphasis on the first to fourth chapters of the A Brief History of the Communist Party of China, and wrote an outline of their speeches.

In his speech, FANG Shou’en pointed out that from the study, he deeply realized that the CPC was good at coping with the main problems and contradictions in some big events that led the revolution to victory. As a Marxist party, the CPC has been adept at exploring China’s path of development under the guidance of the Marxist concept of contradiction, and has enriched and improved this theory in practice. We, as the leaders of the university, should be equipped with the knowledge and skills of tackling the main contradictions. Through continuous study of the history of the CPC, we should be able to further feel the power of truth, understand the essence of the Marxist concept of contradiction, learn from the CPC leaders’ methodology, and apply the knowledge in our practical work. The study helps us think, understand, achieve and behave better to run and improve the university.

CHEN Jie said that the history of the New Democratic Revolution was a journey of the CPC leading the people to achieve national independence, liberation and prosperity, and it reflected the determination of the Chinese Communists to always work hard and remain true to the original aspiration and mission. In the face of the new situations and tasks, we must carry forward the hardworking spirit, fulfill the requirements of the CPC, adhere to the commitment, take the responsibilities and accomplish the established goals against all challenges. The study and education on the CPC history should be conducted in combination with the ambitions to build a world-class university and a country with a high-quality education system and to improve the service and teaching capabilities, so that we are able to focus on solving the problems in the process of reform and development, bring benefits to the people, and unite all the students, faculty and staff of the university to advance as a community.

Other leaders of the university presented at the reading workshop also exchanged their experiences about studying the history of the CPC during the New Democratic Revolution.

After the workshop, the university leadership visited the Tongji University Patriotic Student Movement and Martyrs Photo Exhibition at the library.
