Lately, a delegation led by LEI Xiaoyun, Director of the Intellectual Property Utilization Promotion Department of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), and HAN Aipeng, Director-General of the Patent Examination Cooperation Jiangsu Center of the Patent Office, CNIPA, paid a working visit to Tongji University. The delegation visited Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP) to learn about headway made by Tongji University in building itself into a national model university of intellectual property (IP), and attended the Symposium on Intellectual Property Transfer and Commercialization of Shanghai-based Universities and Institutes. The delegation members also include Director-General RUI Wenbiao and Deputy Director-General ZHANG Yongzhong of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA), and Director RAO Bohua of the Operational System Construction Division of CNIPA Intellectual Property Utilization Promotion Department.
Accompanied by LEI Xinghui, Vice President of Tongji University, the delegation toured around SICIP and listened to the briefing about SICIP's development. LEI Xiaoyun lauded the huge strides made by SICIP in cultivating talents with an international vision, developing the discipline of intellectual property and carrying out laboratory explorations, and hoped that Tongji University, in its drive to become a model university of intellectual property, could continue sharpening the edge of SICIP in talent fostering and discipline development and foster more top-notch IP talents to shore up China's resolve to stand out as a country strong in intellectual property.

Afterwards, the delegation attended the Special Session on Tongji University's Progress in Building the National Model University of Intellectual Property, which was attended by Mr. TONG Xiaohua, Vice President of Tongji University, and the heads of the Office of Research Administration, Liberal Arts Office, Finance Office, Personnel Office, Institute of Advanced Technology, SICIP, Intellectual Property Service Center and Institute of Engineering and Industry of Tongji University, as well as the senior management of Shanghai Tongji Technology Transfer Service Co., Ltd.
During the visit, the delegation also attended the Symposium on Intellectual Property Transfer and Commercialization of Shanghai-based Universities and Institutes, which was jointly convened by SIPA and Tongji University. At the symposium, SIPA briefed participants on the particulars of the Work Plan of Shanghai Municipality to Implement the Special Program on Patent Commercialization (2021-2023). 7 national model universities of intellectual property (East China University of Science and Technology, Fudan University, Shanghai Institute of Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University, Tongji University, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology) and 3 Shanghai-based research institutes (CAS Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, CAS Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, and CAS Shanghai Institute of Ceramics) respectively reported their work in patent transfer and commercialization.
