On September 15, at the 13th International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability (ICOSSAR), Professor ZHANG Jie, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, was awarded the IASSAR Early Achievement Award. The award is presented every four years. Professor ZHANG Jie is the only scholar in geotechnical engineering since the award was initiated in1993, and the second scholar from the Chinese Mainland after Professor CHEN Jianbing, also from the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University.

ICOSSAR, founded in 1969, is one of the major international academic organizations in the field of civil engineering. ICOSSAR is organized by the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability and is held every four years. It is the largest and highest level international academic conference in the field of engineering reliability.
