Centre for Asia-Pacific Studies

The Centre for Asia-Pacific Studies was officially founded on May 25, 2001. It focuses its research on the peace and development of the Asia-Pacific region in the fields of culture and history. To keep pace with the international research developments and to learn from international academic achievements, the Centre plays an active role in promoting international academic exchanges and in enhancing non-official communications.

The Centre has a team of full-time researchers; has invited social activists, well-known scholars and statesmen, both from home and abroad, to be special researchers, guest or advisory professors for research cooperation. The Centre undertakes the research projects in social science both from the State and Shanghai Municipal Governments and also participates in the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students at Tongji University. In order to strengthen academic exchanges and publicize research findings, the Centre hosts symposiums, workshops and lectures and compiles and distributes Exchange Developments for internal Circulation and publishes Tongji University Asia-Pacific Studies Series.
