In the century-old history of cooperation and exchange between Tongji University and Germany, many Tongji students have studied in Germany since the reform and opening up. While many Chinese students have returned to China upon completion of their studies, some have settled in Germany. They have played an essential role in promoting Tongji’s scientific research, industrial research and development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and people-to-people exchanges to Germany in different ways. During the COVID-19, Tongji alumni in Germany first helped China fight against the pandemic, and then purchased materials from China to help Germany fight against the pandemic, building an anti-pandemic bridge between China and Germany's public welfare. Knowing the history of Tongji people in Germany can help us make a good study plan in advance and better understand the Tongji spirit: “Only when we pull together in times of trouble can we help people and the world.”

Three alumni from the Tongji University Alumni Association in Germany (TUAAG) will share with us the history of the establishment and development of the alumni association, the contributions of Tongji alumni in German universities and the scientific and technological community, and the study and employment of young Tongji alumni in Germany.

Whether we are in Tongji or Germany, time and space cannot prevent us from meeting and exchanging ideas. We will work together to promote the exchange and cooperation between Tongji and Germany.
