From April 19 to 20, 2019, 28 Tongji students arrived at San Jose, California, USA with a concrete canoe and sandboxes painted in Chinese styles for the 2019 ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) Mid-Pacific Conference at San Jose State University.

The Tongji University team participated in all the events of Concrete Canoe, Geo-Challenge, Sustainable Solution Competition: Dog House, Transportation Challenge and Water Treatment. After fierce competitions with hundreds of students from more than ten universities from China and the United States, the Tongji University team successfully defended the championship in Concrete Canoe for the third time in three consecutive years and entered the America’s National Final. Meanwhile, the team also won the third place both in Geo-Challenge and Transportation Challenge.
