Tongji University Helps Promote Development of IEEE Blockchain in China

On December 21, 2018, LIU Erwu, a professor with the College of Electronics and Information Engineering of Tongji University, leader of China Construction and Chairman of Shanghai Working Group of International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Blockchain, attended the inaugural ceremony of Hangzhou Working Group held at Space Z of Alibaba, headquarter of Ant Financial. It was announced at the conference that the Hangzhou Working Group of IEEE Blockchain was to be chaired by Ant Financial, and Dr. Zhang Hui, head of the Blockchain Laboratory of Ant Financial Damo Academy, was to take the chair of Hangzhou Working Group of IEEE Blockchain. People from Tongji University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang Blockchain Technology Application Association, Ant Financial, Alibaba Cloud, China Construction Bank and Zhongchao Blockchain Technology Research Institute attended the ceremony and exchanged their ideas extensively. With support from the brand appeal of IEEE, 24 organizations became the first group of members of the working groups of IEEE Blockchain at this conference. Meanwhile, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Blockchain Technology Application Association and Alibaba Cloud were to serve as organization vice-chairmen.

Dr. Ramesh Ramadoss, Chairman of IEEE Blockchain Global, and Professor LIU Erwu, leader of China Construction of IEEE Blockchain gave their suggestions on the global development of IEEE Blockchain and the construction of working groups in various regions of China. According to Dr. Ramadoss, Shanghai Working Group, Beijing Working Group, Shenzhen Working Group and Hangzhou Working Group of the IEEE blockchain were established in succession in 2018 as a result of effective organization and coordination by Tongji University; and China has thus become a most significant country in IEEE's global plan.

With the establishment of the working groups of IEEE Blockchain in China and the implementation of related work, it is of great significance for China to create a win-win blockchain ecosystem and to promote the development of value Internet.
