From December 8th to 9th, the award ceremony of the 15th “HUAWEI Cup” (2018) National Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held in the Ocean University of China, marking the end of the contest.

The contest attracted 12,211 teams from 488 universities and institutions. Tongji University received the largest number of awards including 3 first-class, 143 second-class and 144 third-class awards. In addition, the University was awarded Outstanding Organization Award, demonstrating the remarkable achievements in Tongji’s postgraduate innovation education.

The National Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling sponsored by China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education is one of the “National Postgraduate Student Innovation Practice Activity Series” which has been listed among the Postgraduate Education Innovative Programs of Ministry of Education. It is a highly influential contest for both national postgraduates and the general public.

The Mathematical Contest in Modeling helps postgraduate students improve their skills of analyzing and solving complicated practical problems, develop their wit in innovation and enhance their personal qualities including team spirit, strong will and perseverance. The remarkable results that Tongji University achieved in the contest not only showed the effectiveness of its postgraduate innovation education, but also encouraged the university to further its reform in innovation.
