In the list of the 2018 Outstanding Online Audio-Visual Works released by the General Office of National Radio and Television Administration, "Light Chaser from the East", a documentary co-produced by YANG Jiayi and ZHU Qi, students from Radio and TV Editing class of 2015, the College of Arts and Media of Tongji University, won the Outstanding Short Documentary of the Year for College Students.
The documentary "Light Chaser from the East", presented a true record of the years of marathon runner YI Guangming, a semi-blind light chaser, and his running guide MA Chengfu from Taiwan based on true stories of two people who striven to go ahead after experiencing the cruelty of life. The documentary had won an Excellence Award of Micro-films in the 6th National Sports Video Festival for College Students in 2018, and had been selected as the Honorary Excellent Work in the category of "Running Dream in Light and Shadow" in the 14th Beijing National Sports Week, and had been on show online on Tencent Sports.


The production of the documentary was supported by a special fund for content development of online audio-visual programs. The special funds organized under the leadership of the National Radio and Television Administration, aimed to guide and encourage the production and broadcasting of online audio-visual programs and continuously improve the quality of online audio-visual programs. To coincide with the content development, College of Arts and Media of Tongji University has been committed to integrating classroom teaching with creation practice. This documentary was completed on the basis of knowledge learnt from the documentary creation course offered by the college. Professor WANG Dongdong, the course director, supervised the production process of the documentary.
