On the evening of December 31, the Tongji University New Year Concert was held in the University Auditorium at the Siping Campus to welcome the new year. Party Secretary FANG Shouen, President CHEN Jie, Vice President WU Jiang, Party Deputy Secretaries XU Jianping and WU Guangming, FANG Ping, and Disciplinary Committee Secretary and Vice President LEI Xinghui came to the auditorium and talked with the audience.. More than 1,500 administrators, teachers, students, and guests attended the performance.

FANG Shouen delivered his speech prior to the performance. He extended his New Year greetings to all teachers and students, retirees and alumni at home and abroad; he also expressed his heartfelt thanks to people from all walks of life who support the Tongji University development. He said Tongji University continued to move towards achieving its goal of being a world-class university with Chinese characteristics in the past year. The year 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan." Tongji University will make more outstanding achievements to mark the 100th anniversary of the Party’s founding!

The concert was organized by College of Arts and Media teachers and students, performed by our student orchestra, sung by the 1907 Chamber Chorus, and conducted by Teacher Kadlia Kurban.
The concert began with the overture of "Carmen." The teachers and students performed Chinese and foreign classic music, which intoxicated the audience. Warm applause burst from the audience from time to time.
Grand performance
As the finale to the New Year’s concert, Li Wei, Li Jian, and Wang Yida led the 1907 Chamber Chorus to sing the Tongji University song: "Youth China," and the classic song: "My Motherland." All of the actors and members of the audience waved the national flag in their hands and sang in unison to bless the great motherland.
Our student orchestra was founded in 2006, and is composed of students majoring in Music Performance and other majors. Founded in 2018, the 1907 Chamber Choir is a professional Choir composed of College of Arts and Media students and teachers and alumnus.
This live performance of the New Year Concert was attended by more than 1,500 teachers and students, and more than 150,000 people viewed the live broadcast through the Tongji University official Weibo, Douyin, Kuaishou, Bilibili, and other online platforms.
