The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) announced the list of its new fellows recently. Prof. WU Guangqiang of Tongji University’s School of Automotive Studies was awarded the ASME’s Fellow for his achievements in nonlinear dynamics and control, multiphysics collaborative simulation, and multi-field design optimization.
Prof. WU has been engaged in the teaching and research of nonlinear dynamics and intelligent control in machinery and automobile, multi-objective, and multi-scale design optimization of complex systems for a long time. He has made significant achievements in the theory and method of hybrid system predictive control and multiphysics collaborative simulation. As a fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers and a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo, Prof. WU has won more than ten awards for various crucial scientific research and talents at home and abroad.

Founded in 1881, the ASME is a non-profit educational and technical organization whose primary activities include engineering scholarship, standards development, education and training, and conference organization. ASME has an outstanding international influence in mechanical engineering and related fields and has more than 693,000 members in 151 countries after decades of development. The honor is the highest fellowship level, recognizing the winners of significant achievements and outstanding international mechanical engineering contributors. ASME selects fellows every year. The number of fellows selected does not exceed one-thousandth of the total number of fellows, and the selection process is extremely rigorous. At present, there are just over 3,000 fellows worldwide.
