At the awards ceremony of "Tell China’s Stories" Contest 2019 last month, Tang Yi's Way of Resurrection, a documentary film made by Tongji student WEI Wangping under the supervision of Professor WANG Dongdong,won the Best Documentary Award for the University Group. WEI Wangping,a 2019 MA student in Art and Design, did his BA program in Radio and Television Editing with College of Arts & Media and completed his BA graduation work under the supervision of Professor WANG Dongdong.

TANG Yi, a former swimmer of China’s National Swimming Team, did her MA in Physical Educationat Tongji University. Tang Yi's Way of Resurrection tells the story of TANG Yi who was determined to pursue his dream of swimming upon her completion of the MA program. The documentary team followed the retired athlete closely for a long time, recording the tough training sessions she went through and the difficulties sheovercame with strong will.
WEI said the documentary film was his BA graduationwork, which was based upon his homework for the course "Documentary Program Creation". The film was almost crippled because some materials were not available. Thanks to the dedicated guidance of his supervisor Professor WANG Dongdong, he managed to achieve the best presentation of the filmwith the limited materials he could get access to. He appreciated his subject, TANG Yi, and all the people who had offered their kind helpin the process of his making the film. He wished to workharder tomake better films in the future.
According to China.org.cn, for the contest 2019, a total of 40 works were awarded out of 3,893 works submitted by Chinese and foreign contestants, including both professional and amateur individuals and organizations.
