On the morning of May 13, a seminar on an integratedpath of cultivating talents in artificial intelligence (AI)was organized by Tongji University in AIsland, Shanghai.The Universityand theNo.1 High School Affiliated to Tongji Universityjointly launchedanAI innovation quality buildingprogram and set up an AI innovationExperimental Class. The high school is a member of the Basic Education Group which was established by Tongji University in cooperation with Yangpu District, Shanghai.This is an important moveforTongjitoexplorean integrated pathin cultivatingAItalents. Vice governor of Yangpu DistrictWANG Hao and Executive vice president of Tongji UniversityWU Jiang attended the opening ceremony of theExperimental Class.

Tongji Universityhas beenactive in exploring an integrated path between high school and university study in talentcultivationby giving full play to its disciplinary advantagesand with support from the Basic Education Group. A "Tongji Solution" featuringintegrations invision of talent cultivation, basicspecializedcourses, innovation projects and cultural connotation constructionwas proposed to break the barriers between high school and university study. Students with potential in AIfrom No.1 High School Affiliated to Tongji University may join the AI Innovation Experimental Classwheretailor-madeintroductory courses in AI will be offered. Small classes will be arranged for students with different interest in autonomous intelligence, human-computer interaction or big data. Aproject-based approach will be practiced in each of the small classes where students will be supervised by two teachers: one from the university and the other from the high school. Tongji will provide strong support in curriculum designand resources in expertise.
