Professor ZHENG, on behalf of TSTS, congratulated TSSTS on the convening of the meeting. He expressed his great expectations for TSSTS. The society is expected to take a leading role in arousing the enthusiasm of students for scientific research and innovation, and creating a conducive environment for technological innovation on campus to contribute to university’s development in science and technology and to the emergence of the innovation-oriented economy in China.

Mr. XU encouraged the society to go to the forefront of research and become spokespersons for the students’ team. He called upon them to respond actively to the call of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and strive to create elites who are "innovative, courageous, and fruitful" in research. The society is expected to project a positive image with Tongji characteristics by strengthening collaborative innovation and providing overall guidance and influence to students in the pursuance of their scientific research dreams.

The logo of TSSTS was released during the meeting; the Charter of TSSTS passed with deliberation; and the committee of TSSTS elected. The 2020 Work Plan of TSSTS was reviewed and unanimously approved.

TSSTS will be committed to becoming a pioneering academic flagship for Tongji students in their appreciating and admiring science, and in inspiring them to “dedicating themselves to the country with scientific and technological achievements" through the "1 + 10 + 100" Excellent Talent Training Program along the lines of Scientific Research, Scientific Exploration, Scientific Innovation, Social Practice and Peer Education.

The planning of TSSTS was initiated in May 2019 soon after student activities including the May Science and Technology Festival, Challenge Cup events, Academic Star appraisal, and Science and Technology Gala had produced good results and positive impacts as recognized by both teachers and students alike. The accumulated WeChat view of reports about the activities has been over 100,000, reaching more than 20,000 students.
