The Global Fight against COVID-19 Online Painting Competition for International Students was held by the International School of Tongji University on March 10, 2020. Biteye El Hadji Mamadou from Senegal, a student on a Chinese government scholarship, received 278 votes and won a third prize.

Mamadou said his inspiration for the design of his poster came from his classes and the doctors who were checking on the patients and constantly reminding them to wash their hands and wear masks. Now the world is working together to fight against the outbreak. Wearing masks is a must for us to protect ourselves in the light of this highly infectious disease.
When Chinese people are fighting against the outbreak, Mamadou, together with the faculties and students of Tongji University who display the Tongji spirit, feels united against the difficulties. He used his own painting to encourage other international students.

On February 10th, Mamadou sent his poster, representing the fight against the outbreak and entitled “China fighting, Wuhan fighting”, to the teacher and commented that he hoped everyone can take good care of themselves and stay healthy.
After the adoption of online education on ZOOM on March 2nd, Mamadou made a video informing international students on how to use the Courses and Canvas in relation to ZOOM. This was of great use for students overseas to get familiar with online education. Well done, Mamadou!
Mamadou considered that China is now the safest place in the world. In his home country, Senegal, 244 people have been infected with the virus. He now takes online classes every day in the dormitory and is glad that online education works well. He hopes that the global virus can be defeated as soon as possible so that everyone can find normalcy in their lives and be close to their loved ones.
