How to keep safe and healthy in buildings on campus such as teaching buildings, research areas, offices, libraries, canteens and dormitories where lots of people come and go at the time of battle against COVID-19? How to prevent and control the pandemic in colleges and universities? Coronavirus Prevention and Control Handbook for Buildings and Environment on Campus compiled by Tongji Architectural Design and Research Institute in collaboration with the School Planning, Construction and Development Center of the Ministry of Education was published by China Architecture Industry Publishing House and issued free online recently.

The Handbook starts from a general plan for pandemic prevention and control on campus, including protection standards, disinfection plans and organizational management requirements in line with practical and operable principles. Detailed measures to be taken are provided for teaching buildings, research areas, administrative offices, large public spaces, residential quarters and outdoor places so that colleges and universities may focus their prevention and control work on specific targets. In addition, the Handbook also puts forward solutions for smart management on campus through technological means to ensure safety on campus. The Handbook is meant to provide both pragmatic reference for the pandemic prevention and control in colleges and universities and food for thoughts in dealing with public health emergencies in the planning, construction and operational management on campus in the future.
