To combat the new coronavirus disease and provide psychological assistance services related to the epidemic, Tongji University Mental Health Education and Counseling Center has launched a free anti-epidemic psychological counselling hotline since January 29, 2020. Full-time psychological counselors at the center provide psychological assistance services via telephone. The service is recommended as a professional and reliable Chinese psychological counselling hotline following an accreditation by the Clinical Psychology Registration Working Committee (Registration System) of the Chinese Psychological Association.
In addition, the Center has opened a confidential message board for coronavirus prevention and control in its Wechat official account. Professional psychological counselors give their responses regularly to enquiries to alleviate the psychological distress caused by the epidemic through text messaging.
At present, while the epidemic situation in China is basically under control, the epidemic is spreading fast in other countries around the world, threatening the normal life as well as physical and mental health of overseas Chinese. In this context, Tongji University Mental Health Education and Counseling Center will continue to provide psychological assistance related to the coronavirus outbreak to the public, including overseas students.
