Tongji University starts its online lectures on prevention and control of COVID-19

At 2:30 pm on March 3, 2020, the first series of lectures on prevention and control of COVID-19 of Tongji University were held online for the spring semester 2020. FANG Shouen, Party Secretary of the University, LIU Zhongmin, professor of the School of Medicine, Tongji University and Dean of Oriental Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University, and ZHAO Xudong, professor of the School of Medicine, director of Mental Health Center of Tongji University (in preparation) delivered online lectures on "Tongji people and responsibilities", "From prevention and control of COVID-19 to disaster medical system construction" and "Learning from disasters—psychological adaptation to the coronavirus epidemic", encouraging the students of Tongji to bracing themselves for the coronavirus outbreak. The lecture was chaired by XU Jianping, deputy Party secretary of the University.

"Responsibilities of Tongji", "Move forward towards the same goal on the same boat” and "Missing the Sakura on the Siping campus!" were among the pushes posted by the online audience, the number of which reached nearly 800,000 including more than 30,000 undergraduates and graduate students of Tongji University during the 100-minute live broadcast of the lectures. The lectures were broadcast live via the official Weibo of Tongji University, and online visual social media of Douyin, Kuaishou and Bilibili, where the audience interacted with the speakers with the screens full of messages sent by the audience.
