International Students Organize Special Activities to Welcome the New Year

January 07, 2020

On the afternoon of December 27, 2019, international students from the International School of Tongji University held a series of activities to welcome the New Year 2020.

People from China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection team joined the students at invitation. The students were excited to see such traditional arts as pitch-pot ceremony and tie-dye. They were particularly interested in trying on costumes of Han style and of ethnic groups.

Students from each class took an active part in making preparations for the New Year celebration with the help of their Chinese teachers, from the activity plan, shopping to the on-site arrangement. Their classrooms turned out to be small fairs with stalls for food and traditional games, where they had big fun and enjoyed themselves.

In Lecture Hall 312, international students entertained themselves by staging variety shows, which brought so much delight to teachers and students.

In the West Hall of the International School, a photo exhibition on the theme of "My Motherland" attracted people's attention. Students from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America showed photos they took of their own countries to express their love for their motherlands. The exhibition promoted culture diversity and improved communication among students from different countries.
