From December 6 to 7, the Second Shanghai Medical College Students Clinical Skills Competition, organized by Shanghai Education Commission and hosted by the Second Military Medical University (SMMU), was held in the clinical teaching center of Changhai Hospital affiliated to SMMU. A total of 104 competitors and 26 teams from 18 hospitals affiliated to Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University and SMMU took part in the competition.

On the first day of the competition, all five teams from Tongji University did well and ended up top 12. Four of the five teams successfully reached the semifinals. On the second day of the competition, Team 2 of the Tenth People's Hospital affiliated to Tongji University and Tongji Hospital Team entered the final, and both won a first prize. Team 1 of the Tenth People's Hospital and Team of Yangpu Hospital won a second prize each, and Team of Dongfang Hospital won a third prize. In addition, teams of Tongji University won 5 prizes for single skills.

It was the second year of the competition. Last year, the competition was held at Tongji University with support from the Undergraduate School of Tongji University. The Shanghai Education Commission, organizer of the competition, hopes that the competition will become a platform of communication between teachers and students in improving medical students’ clinical basic theory, basic knowledge, basic skills and humanitarian spirit, which will, in turn, help promote development of higher medical education in Shanghai and even in the whole country, and train more high-quality medical professionals on our way to realize the goal of "Healthy China 2030".
