On December 4, 2019 newly elected members of CAE (China Academy of Engineering) of Tongji University held a seminar for teachers and students. University leaders including FANG Shouen, CHEN Jie, JIANG Bo, XU Jianping, WU Guangming, FANG Ping, FENG Shenhong, LEI Xinghui, and newly elected members of CA E: LYU Xilin and XU Zuxin attended the seminar. Present at the seminar were people from the Party Secretary's Office, the President's Office, Promotion Department, Personnel Office, Division of Planning & Development, Office of Research Administration, Undergraduate School, Graduate School as well as the party secretaries, deans, teachers and students from the College of Civil Engineering and the College of Environmental Science and Engineering. The seminar was chaired by Vice President LYU Peiming.

At the seminar, FANG Shouen, Party Secretary of the University, expressed high respect and sincere thanks to Professor LYU Xilin and Professor XU Zuxin upon their election as members of CAE on behalf of the university, teachers and students. President CHEN Jie expressed his congratulations, high respect and sincere thanks to the election of two members for their great honors as part of the development of the university. Teachers and students from Tongji University were very excited and encouraged.

Academician* LYU Xilin thanked the motherland for providing him with good basic research conditions and a solid engineering application background for carrying out seismic research on building structures. He also thanked previous University leaders for their care, support and help, in particular his Master's and doctoral supervisor Professor ZHU Bolong for his care and guidance; the College of Civil Engineering and several seniors for their warm help; and the team for giving him strong support. Academician XU Zuxin thanked the party and the country for offering her education, the university for giving her long-term education, the College of Environmental Science and Engineering for giving her strong backing, and the team's dedication and great support to her.

At the seminar, other members of the university's leadership team, leaders of the party and administration from the College of Civil Engineering, the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, and representatives of young teachers and students gave speeches and congratulated the two academicians on their election. They hoped that in their future study and work, they would take the example of the two academicians, address and contribute to the international academic frontier, face the major needs of the country, devote themselves to teaching, and educating people, and contribute to accelerating the "double first-class" status of the university.
