On December 5, 2019, the Student Science and Technology Campaign of Tongji University was successfully concluded in Tongji Sports Center, Jiading Campus. In order to further implement the important call of XI Jinping on "Innovation and popularization of science and technology are the two wings to realize innovation and development", the Youth League Committee of the university, Office of Research Administration, and Science and Technology Association jointly organized this campaign. Fourteen undergraduate "academic star" candidates and graduate "academic pioneer" representatives from 7 schools made presentations to the audience, regaling them with stories of science and technology creation, recollections of past experiences, sharing scientific breakthroughs. The activity gave prominence to the role of peer education and student role models, relayed the "spirit of scientists", created a convivial science and innovation atmosphere on campus, and helped Tongji University to develop a "double first-class" status.

Undergraduate "Academic Star" selection began in September, 2019. After independent registration as well as a review and recommendation of schools and departments, 35 students from 20 majors entered the re-evaluation. Ultimately, ten students were awarded the title of "Academic Star" and four students were awarded the "Academic Star" nomination award.
