On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China and the 35th anniversary of China's Antarctic Scientific Expedition, "Traveling Antarctica and Encountering Legends”, an Exhibition of Tongji People in Antarctica was unveiled at Tongji University Museum on November 27. The exhibition organized jointly by Tongji University and the Polar Research Institute of China, and hosted by Tongji University Archives and Tongji University Museum, had a retrospective of the development and achievements of China's Antarctic scientific expedition in the past 35 years, and demonstrated the important contributions made by Tongji people with more than 70 poster boards, 240 pictures, 47 pieces (sets) of physical objects.

JIANG Bo, vice president of Tongji University, and ZHU Jiangang, vice party secretary of the Polar Research Institute of China, jointly unveiled the exhibition. The exhibition told the stories of the Antarctic expedition in three parts. The first part of Antarctic Stories: the Magical Boundary showed the beautiful natural scenery of Antarctica; the second part of the Chinese Legend: Thirty-Five Years of Antarctic Scientific Expedition, introduced the thirty-five-year development of Chinese Antarctic scientific expedition; and the third part of Tongji’s Footprint: an Interpretation of Wisdom and Responsibility, showcased the active part that teachers, students and alumni of Tongji University took in the Antarctic science expedition. Through presentation of photos and display of physical objects, visitors had a better understanding of the Antarctic Scientific Expedition and showed deep respect to those who had contributed to it. Teachers and students felt motivated to work even harder under the guidance of XI Jinping's thought at the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The exhibition will be on display on the first floor of the University Museum until December 14. Teachers, students and alumni are welcome to visit the exhibition.
