Breast cancer has been the leading malignant tumor in women diseases worldwide, among which triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has a high rate of recurrence and metastasis. The survival time after recurrence and metastasis is short, the prognosis is poor and chemotherapy is easily resistant. At present, the treatment of TNBC is mainly surgical resection, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and it is impossible to perform estrogen and progesterone receptor antagonists and anti-Her-2 targeted therapy. Therefore, how to improve the therapeutic effect of TNBC is a challenge for the treatment of clinical breast cancer. The research team headed by Professor DONG Chunyan, director of Department of Breast Oncology from Shanghai East Hospital, Tongji University and the research team headed by Professor SHI Shuo from School of Chemical Science and Engineering of Tongji conducted an interdisciplinary collaborative study. They proposed a new strategy for treating TNBC: a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy for photothermal and photodynamic techniques. On November 13, relevant research results were published in the international journal: Advanced Materials (IF: 25.8).
