Tongji University School of Medicine Project Wins 2019 Shanghai Municipal Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Project Award

November 19, 2019

Under the promotion of the First-Class Undergraduate Construction Leading Plan of Tongji University School of Medicine, the basic medicine "Virtual Simulation Experiment of Cell Microscopy and Sub-Microscopy Technology--A Case Study of Renal Ischemia Model in Rats" was awarded 2019 Shanghai Municipal Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Project  Award.

Since 2017, the School of Medicine has implemented the basic curriculum reform of "Morphological Experiment" for all Clinical Medicine students. With cell structure as the starting point of medical life science cognition, guided by clinical problems and difficulties and focusing on the cultivation of basic morphological research ability, this experimental project was completed successfully.

Through the use of virtual reality, multimedia, database, and network communication platforms, human-computer interactions experiments are able to be conducted in the virtual environment. The project consists ofs seven modules, which can be independent or parallel: preview, purpose, principle, video, start, questions, assessment and expansion.

Developing a formative assessment and feedback system in the teaching process enables teachers to test the effect of teaching and learning about the experiment dynamically, help students understand their study effects of the experiment, and give formative and real-time evaluation of the experimental teaching process. The system improves continuously to reshape the education teaching form and improve the quality of basic medical education effectively. In order to cultivate outstanding doctors who adapt to the characteristics of times in the future, we strive to create a new situation of higher education.
