Recently sponsored by the China International Talent Exchange Foundation of Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and co-organized by Project Management Institute (PMI) the "20 Years Development of Project Management in China: Achievement Presentation and Summit Forum" was held in Juxian Hall of the Beijing Friendship Hotel. LU Ming, from the Ministry of Science and Technology, China, WAN Jinfa, Deputy Director of China International Talent Exchange Foundation, and Sunil Prashara, Global President and CEO of PMI, attended the forum along with other participants. In the forum, the Department of Construction Management and Real Estate of School of Economics and Management (SEM), Tongji University was awarded the "Outstanding Education Contribution Award for the 20 Years’ Development of Project Management in China (1999-2019)". Professor SHI Qian, Vice Dean of SEM , accepted the award on behalf of Tongji University.

PMI is an international professional association in the field of project management in the United States. At present, PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC) is the only authoritative body that certifies the degree education of project management worldwide. SEM obtained GAC certification in 2012, which was one of the first universities in China to obtain this international certification. According to Professor LuAnn Piccard, an internationally renowned expert, the universities that have obtained the certification are "the world leaders of project management education". The Top Ten Project Management Education Outstanding Contribution Awards jointly selected by PMI and China International Talent Exchange Foundation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of PMI's establishment, are the most valuable education awards in the field of project management in China.
