From October 16th to 18th, Tongji University established Sino-German Academy for Economics and Management, Sino-German Research Center for Intelligent Science and Technology, Sino-German Research and Development Center for Automobile and the Sino-German Mechanical Engineering Center, new platforms for enhanced Sino-German cooperation in integrating production with education, thus creating new scenarios for cooperation between Tongji University and Germany.

In recent years, Tongji has actively promoted cultural exchanges with Germany while continuing to consolidate and develop cooperation and exchanges with its German counterparts in education and scientific research. In March 2017, the Sino-German Research Center for Humanities of Tongji University was established and listed as one of the Sino-German Humanities Exchange Research Bases of the Ministry of Education. Since its establishment, the center has done research in strengthening and promoting Sino-German cultural exchange, and has been committed to providing intellectual support and talent backup for Sino-German high-level cultural exchange dialogues.
