2019 Orientation Activities for Exchange Students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan

On March 2nd,  orientation activities for the Spring Term 2019 for exchange students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan were organized at Tongji University. A total of 108 exchange students A total of 108 exchange students from 19 universities and colleges in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, including Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Shih Hsin University, Feng Chia University, Tamkang University, Tunghai University, Chung Hua University and National Taipei University from Taiwan, participated in the event with support from nearly 40 volunteers from the Student Union of Tongji University.

People from the Undergraduate School, Office for Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs and Youth League Committee attended the event. Students from the university student union and from some student societies introduced to the exchange students the history and campus cultural activities of Tongji University, in particular, the official accounts and platforms to claim student rights and interests, and tips for life, to help them adapt to the new environment through online and offline ways. The University also organized visits to the alumni enterprise Fengyuzhu, Shanghai cultural landmark buildings and Shanghai History Museum to help exchange students have a diversified understanding of the culture in Shanghai and the charm of the city.

It is worth mentioning that in the orientation activities, teachers and students from both sides of the Taiwan Straits as well from Hong Kong and Macao jointly staged activities such as Night Market, Old Day Music Festival and Cultural Community Visits under the theme of the Culture and History on Both Sides of the Taiwan Straits. Meanwhile, exchange students were invited to join the Student Union to integrate into campus communities and adapt to new life sooner.
