Concert of Singing the New Era by Shanghai Light Music Orchestra at Tongji University

A concert of Singing the New Era and Writing a New Chapter by Shanghai Light Music Orchestra (SLMO) was held at Auditorium 129 on the Siping Campus, Tongji University as part of series activities themed Elegant Art on Campus on the evening of Oct 16th, 2018. Over 300 teachers and students attended the concert.

The concert staged well-known songs in various forms including instrumental music, vocal solo and antiphonal singing. The graceful and sonorous voice of the songstresses in the Story of the Spring and on a Hopeful Field presented the audience with scenes during the years of Reform and Opening up.

Two patriotic songs of Descendants of the Dragon and My Chinese Heart were reinterpreted in instrumental music in a novel way, which struck a chord in the hearts of the teachers and students. The male solos of Shanghai, My Love and Red Flag were very appealing and touched the hearts of the audience. The tuneful sound in the male-female duet singing of Never Forget Why You Started echoed in the hall. The concert ended with the powerful and popular Radetzky March.

Founded in 1986, Shanghai Light Music Orchestra is the only national level light music group in China that has a reputation both at home and abroad.
