On the afternoon of October 11, President CHEN Jie met respectively at Yifu Building with Mr. Hans Jürgen Prömel, President of Darmstadt University of Technology，Mr. Dieter Leonhard, Rector of Mannheim Polytechnic Institute，Mr. Axel Schoelmerich, Rector of Bochum Ruhr-University，Ms. Christian Thomsen from Berlin University of Technology，Dr. Dorothea Rueland, Secretary General of German Academic Exchange Service, and the Office of Asia-Pacific Affairs, the Department of International Affairs of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research who came to join the celebration of the 20th anniversary of CDHK, Tongji University. Both sides had friendly and in-depth discussions on the future development of cooperation between Tongji University and its counterparts in Germany.

President CHEN expressed his gratitude towards the visiting universities and organizations for their long term support and contributions to Tongji University. Based upon the achievements made so far, both sides attached importance to the future orientation and possibilities of further cooperation. The president acknowledged the long history and outstanding achievements of Tongji University's cooperation with their German partners. In the future, Tongji University will continue to stick to its Sino-German centered strategy for its international development by joining hands with its German partners to face the transnational and interdisciplinary challenges in science and technology and to make further contributions to the scientific and cultural exchanges between China and Germany.
