Sculpture Works from Art Workshop 18 on Display at CAUP

November 11, 2018

Sculpture works from Art Workshop 18 was on display from October 8 to 22 at the Exhibition Hall of Building B, College of Architecture and Urban Planning. The works was displayed both indoors and outdoors with the indoor ones focusing on an in-class creative theme and the five outdoor pieces with distinctive artistic forms on an environmental theme.

Message from Course Teacher:

For art-loving students, it was fascinating to make sculpture works and experience the joy of creation by using such simple materials as mud, plaster and paper with big imagination. This could well explain the reason why the course in sculpture was popular among students.

Everyone had illusive ideas. Once the artistic inspiration was stimulated and imagination initiated, the passion for creative work gushed out. Nobody was born an artist; interest and curiosity were the best teacher.

Though there were a number of ways to express art forms, the essential language of "form and space" could only be truly understood through repetitive temperament. In addition to interest, students needed a lot of practice and experience including the courage to try.

Most of the works on exhibition were made by students from the Art Workshop 18 while the rest by students from other majors. The sculptures were all created with passion. Enjoy them!
