On September 28th, Cornerstone of the Time and the Nation: Materials Culture Themed Activities started at Tongji University with support from Tongji University Library and the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tongji University. The activities composed of a lecture and an exhibition aimed at leading teachers and students to the past and present of material development in their appreciation of the diversity of material culture and in their exploration of the material science through display of pictures, creative works and videos of a wide range of materials.
A lecture on the application of materials was jointly presented by experts doing research in Materials for Civil Engineering, Energy Materials and Biological Materials in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of Tongji University library on the Siping Campus. The exhibition was arranged in three parts, including material development in different periods & its influence on social development, frontier application of new materials in various fields and creative works by students and the faculty. The video display latest development of graphene and waterproof materials inspired students and the faculty to explore the infinite possibility of future materials.
Reading activities of popular material science books and hands-on experience visits to the Engineering Practice Center will be organized during the exhibition. The exhibition on the first floor of Tongji University library on the Siping Campus will last till October 23rd.
