Cultural Journey to Tang Dynasty, an exhibition to promote the splendid Chinese traditions, was held at the Tongji University Museum on September 20th. Over 100 pieces of painting and calligraphy works were on display at the exhibition which was initiated by Tongji University in collaboration with the Arts Exchange Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The head of the Office of Retirement Services from Tongji University delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer at the opening ceremony. According to JIANG Liping and CHEN Yingming, artists from Tongji and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the exhibition provided a good opportunity for them to exchange ideas on the painting and calligraphy works which not only embodied the profound connotations and the peculiar features of the Tang culture, but also showcased the artistic attainments by faculty members from the two universities.
After the opening ceremony, painters and calligraphers from the two universities, teachers and students of Tongji University, and people from outside the university visited the exhibition, totaling over one hundred visitors.
The Arts Exchange Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tongji University Painting and Calligraphy Association were established in 1994 and 1997 respectively, members of which are mostly professors and experts.
