Youth-oriented Version of GEO-6 Regional Assessment for Asia and the Pacific to Be Released

The Youth-oriented Version of the Global Environment Outlook-6 (GEO-6) Regional Assessment for Asia and the Pacific organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was completed with joint efforts of more than 50 experts and young scholars from the Asia-Pacific region. WANG Ying, an associate professor from College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University, worked as the coordinating lead author. GEO-6 is scheduled to be released by the UNEP at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Meeting in January 2019.

GEO-6, one of the most influential reports on environmental research and policies of the UNEP, is a white paper on global environmental issues. This youth-oriented report aims to provide young people from all walks of life with a new report full of vigor. It covers environmental problems and challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, and instances of young people’s involvement in environmental protection. Issued in an electronic version, the report will visualize data through illustrations and animations to remove the boredom of report reading, and to encourage more young people from all walks of life to take one step further towards realization of sustainable development.
