From August 20th to 26th, the 13th National College Peking Opera Conference at Wuhan University of Technology attracted more than 500 teachers and students from more than 70 universities in 27 provinces and municipal cities. Eight teachers and students from Tongji University participated in it. A total of 154 competitors joined the National Peking Opera Singing Competition, an important part of the conference. Students of Tongji University won three first prizes, two second prizes and one third prize, which took the lead among the universities.

Well-known artists and experts acted as judges, including LI Jide, the president of Chinese Society of Theater Performance, SUN Yuming, YE Jinyuan, WANG Rukun, YE Daizhu and LI Yuanyuan.
Students performed over 147 acts, including classical opera pieces, and opera singing with and without costumes. They played the roles of bearded men, young ladies, martial women, elderly women and non-bearded men, demonstrating the inheritance of traditional Peking Opera in college students.
The National Peking Opera Singing Conference for College Students is the most influential event of Peking Opera among colleges and universities, which plays an important role in the promotion and inheritance of the Peking Opera.
